How to Let the Terrorists Win

Yahoo headline this morning: US tells troops to stay out of London after bombs

My name is Max, I am a girly girl, I have never been in the military or learned karate or how to kill with my bare hands, but I was not afraid to be in London last weekend.

We have 12,000 USAF personnel stationed in Great Britain and our military has issued a “battle staff directive” forbidding them from going into London. Put into simpler terms, this is our government telling 12,000 of its own free citizens where they can and cannot go within a country that is lauded as being our best friend and biggest ally.

Amongst our troops in Britain are special forces, men and women who have been to Afghanistan and/or Iraq, some of them on several tours, and now they are being told that London is too dangerous. Does anyone else see the irony? We will enjoy the freedom you are protecting, but you will not. Thank you for your service to your country.

They must know there's going to be more trouble. Just like members of the American government did prior to 9/11.

You know we was still sleepin when yall was bombed but we was still real real scared.

Wondering if that order could have been issued because some may blame the US in general for bringing about the bombings and therefore would lash out at any representation of the US that they see (our troops). So the thought is to keep the troops out of London to avoid that sort of conflict rather then because they are afraid they may get hurt by another bomb, etc.

Tom Cruise -

Doubtful. Troops overseas do not go off-base in uniform so they would not be an obvious target. No more than any civilian American anyway.

Don't know if y'all have heard already but the order was rescinded a few hours ago.

I wondered how long it might take to blame the U.S.

Canadians are getting warnings for possible attacks in our metro systems. errr everyone as far as I know will be on the streets as tehy are closed for all the festivals this summer. no one takes the metro anymore...it's stinking hot and nice out!
We are in Iraq as peacekeepers we arn't fighting anyone. huh??? I wouldn't call us alleys with the US since they did ban our Alberta Beef. Bush hasn't even come by to say hi to Paul Martin. Maybe he should come to Canada sometime...so he at least know where the fuck we are...on TOP!

Celinko, what are you talking about? As far as I know, I only used "we" to mean Americans in this post. Have I missed something? What do they put in your water up there in Canada?
